Utku Korkmaz was born in Banaz/Usak in 1982. He completed his primary education in Banaz, secondary education in Usak, and high school at Izmir Science High School. Later, he pursued his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU).
He began his professional career as a Proposal Engineer at ANEL Electrical Contracting Company. Subsequently, he continued his professional life at IWP, a company operating in wind energy in Germany, where he served as Sales and Project Manager responsible for Turkey and neighboring countries. In 2010, he returned to Turkey and served as a founding partner and general manager at EG Elektrik, an electrical trading company. During this time, he completed his Executive MBA at Bilgi University.
In 2014, he founded RKT Energy, focusing on Wind and Solar Energy projects. In 2016, he co-founded and became a board member of the Turkish office of the Brussels-based company 3E, continuing in his role as a founding partner.
Utku Korkmaz emphasizes that renewable energy has become a necessity, not just a choice, alongside global warming and electromobility. With this purpose, in 2017, he established Solarcati, the first company in Turkiye specializing in turnkey solar roof projects, where he continues to serve as the CEO.
Utku Korkmaz is awarded with the 2021 LiSA Leader of the Year award in the Energy Category.
