For nearly 4 years, Didem Sekerel Erdogan has held the positions of Turkey General Manager and Deputy President of the EE MEA Russia Retail Group at Nielsen, one of the world's leading research companies. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Nielsen Global Retail Management Board. As of August 2020, she has been appointed as Nielsen Senior Vice President Intelligent Analytics, assuming responsibility for a vast intercontinental region covering the APAC-EEMEA regions and overseeing 55 countries.
Before joining Nielsen, Didem Sekerel Erdogan served as the Marketing Director at an international FMCG company. With over 20 years of experience in both international strategic marketing and operational marketing in Turkey, particularly in sales and commercial marketing, she stands out for her knowledge and expertise. She lived in Vienna, Austria, for four years and held the position of International Strategic Marketing Manager covering 32 countries.
At Nielsen, Sekerel Erdogan led all customer and consulting teams covering retail measurement services, sales effectiveness, analytical and consumer research, including teams providing insight consulting. She joined Nielsen in 2013 and played a leading role in establishing the Nielsen FMCG E-Commerce panel in Turkey, as well as pioneering the digitization and integration of Nielsen solutions into technology. Having excelled in advanced analytics and modeling work, Sekerel Erdogan assumed the role of Nielsen Turkey General Manager and Deputy President of the Retail Group responsible for the EEMEA RUSSIA region. After her success in leading Nielsen Turkey to the global stage, she was promoted to the role of Nielsen Senior Vice President Intelligent Analytics, responsible for 55 countries. As of January 2024, he continues his role as Vice President of E-Commerce for Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa at NIQ, and as General Manager of NielsenIQ + GfK Turkey.
In her current position, covering the APAC-EEMEA regions, Sekerel Erdogan leads a broad team spanning continents, with responsibilities extending from Australia to Korea, India to Russia, Indonesia to Romania, South Africa to Singapore, Turkey to China, among others. As the first Turkish executive to assume this role at Nielsen, she has shown exemplary leadership.
Didem Sekerel Erdogan, a member of the AmCham board of directors and LEAD Network, places diversity and inclusivity at the forefront. She leads a large group and teams focusing on big data analytics solutions, which have become increasingly important in recent times.
